Hodila mi je Bojana
devet godini hajdutin.
Na deseta se sgodila
za Mirco mlada vojvoda.
Bojana wandered
nine years as a hajduk.
On the tenth she became engaged
to the young chieftain Mirco.
Sednala mi je Bojana
koprina da se prepreda,
tůnki darove da pravi
junaci da si daruva.
Bojana sat down
to spin silk,
to make fine wedding gifts
to give to the warriors.
Mirco v gorata otiva
druzina da si sůbira.
Tam si go turci hvanali,
vův Tůrnovo go otkarva.
Mirco went into the forest
to gather the company.
There the Turks caught him.
They carried him off to Tůrnovo.
Kad se Bojana nauci,
zahvůrli kurtka srebůrna.
Obleci drehi junaski,
prepazja sabja frengija.
When Bojana learned of this,
she threw off the tunic of silver.
She put on the garb of a warrior,
belted on her sword of Frankish steel.
Ce si turcite nastigna
i im glavite izrjaza.
Mirco Bojana dumase:
"Halal ti struva vojvodstvo."
She reached the Turks
and cut off their heads.
Mirco said to Bojana,
"You are worthy of the chieftainship."
